After I returned to my home, I had made my mind to buy a nice singing bowl, therefore, I searched the internet. Wangchuck already suggested me that if I ever buy a singing bowl, then, first of all, be connected with the singing bowl and the sound of it. The connectedness is the key to the progress. With this in mind, I searched the internet to find other tips or suggestions. After thorough research on the internet, I have come up with my own verse of tips while buying singing bowl which I will be using while buying the singing bowls from the dealers.

So one thing is clear, with the popularity of e-commerce, many dealers are selling singing bowls at their e-commerce websites while others are still waiting for their customers at their shop.

Choosing a singing bowl to buy

Choosing a singing bowl to buy

Let me first share tips for buying while visiting the showroom. We should visit the showroom which has lots of different range of singing bowls because, with the different range, we have the power to choose the best and connected one.

We should select the one that we feel comfortable with. Then play the singing bowl with the striker to hear the sound, observe whether the sound soothes us.

Next thing we can do is hear the sound of the singing bowl and then observe the following things:

  • Body - whether it is relaxed.
  • Highly concentrated - focus only on the sound and nothing else. No other external stimuli are distracting us.

If we can't achieve the above-mentioned things then certainly the singing bowl is not meant for us. So we have to go for another one.

We must be clear that for what purpose we are buying the singing bowls - for cleansing the chakra, for meditation or for healing.

For cleansing the chakra, the singing bowl which produces high frequency is better.

For meditation, the singing bowl which produces sound that matches our own normal voice range.

For healing, the singing bowl which produces good vibration. Mostly hand beaten ones are better for healing purpose.

Another thing is hand beaten singing bowls are quite expensive than machine made, but it produces most pleasant. Sometimes, the machine made bowls are hand beaten during the final stage in order to give the texture of uniqueness. So we have to be very cautious and observe the difference. To differentiate, the hammering will be in a pattern whereas, in the hand beaten bowls, there won't be any pattern of the hammering. When buying hand beaten singing bowls request for suede wrapped around the wood because it produces a nice sound.

While visiting the showroom, we may be confused over the singing bowls. In that scenario, we can request another person to play the singing bowl. Then we will be able to hear the sound clearly without our eyes close. This way we can get a better singing bowl which is comfortable and soothes for us.

While choosing a bowl, it is worst to go for the outer appearance like color, inscriptions, size because if we go for the appearance then we won't get the singing bowl that soothes us.

We should not forget to check the bowl thoroughly because there may be some cracks in the bowls or the singing bowl may be a thin layered. The thin bowls give better sounds, but the drawback is it will develop a crack quickly. So better not to buy thin singing bowls.

After we figure out which bowl is better for us, now it's time to choose the striker or mallet because different striker makes different sounds. The sound produced from mallet is different from the sound produced from striker wrapped by suede and it is different from the sound produced from the wooden striker. Generally, the mallet is only used for striking the singing bowl whereas strikers are used for producing more harmonious sound.

While purchasing from one of the e-commerce sites, we have to share what we are looking for to the owner or the representative and it is better to request to hear the sound that the bowl produces. This way one can find the best singing bowl for oneself.
