Nepal exports varieties of Antique pieces, Handicrafts to different parts of the world. Therefore, Nepal has adequate showrooms in different places and the majority of those showrooms are in Thamel, Boudha, Basantapur Durbar Square in Kathmandu and some around Patan and Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
With the intention to buy a singing bowl, I visited the showroom that was located in the Thamel. But I couldn't feel comfortable with the staff so I walked out from there. I went to the Basantapur Durbar Square. It was hard to find the showroom in Durbar Square because I didn't know the exact location of the showroom and I also couldn't find it on the internet.
Antique Buddha Statues and Singing Bowls Shop

With the help of the local person, I finally got the direction to the showroom and I walked as that person suggested. The showroom was on the right side of the road. There was only one showroom of that kind. Inside, the persons were quite busy packing the Antique Buddha Statues, Metal Masks, different icons. So I took a seat. The owner asked me how he can help me. But I replied that I have time and it’s okay for me to wait till they finish work. So I waited there and observed the environment.
The showroom was big enough to store the materials. It has few seats and cupboards were attached to the walls. There were different antique pieces displayed in the cupboard. I was very fascinated with the view of the pieces. There was one big Buddha statue placed in the middle of the showroom. It has helped to grab the attention of the person, whoever visits that showroom. As for the singing Bowls, there were two compartments. One for the bigger ones and another for medium and smaller ones. I went in front of the cupboard which has medium sized singing bowls. I thoroughly checked the pieces, whether there were any cracks or the bowl is thin at the bottom. I couldn't find the defects in the singing bowls. After I checked singing bowls I also checked other items also. I found the Buddha Statue most fascinating because I feel calmness when I observed the statues. The showroom has statues of different sized. The biggest one was about 3 ft. in height and the smallest one was about 25 cm.

After they finished their work, the owner introduced himself and then asks how he could be useful to me. I replied that I was looking for the singing bowl for meditation. Then the owner, Rohan, showed me the bowls and then the strikers and mallets. Even though I have some information about the singing bowls I asked him about the metal, how and where it is prepared while inspecting the bowls. He replied that basically, the bowls are made up of bronze with very little amount of other metals like gold and silver. He again added that Antique Singing Bowls are definitely made up with seven different metals and these are very expensive. He stressed that the age of Antique singing bowls may vary and are very old. He again added that in the present context, we can't afford these kinds of bowls due to various reasons, but we use bronze with the same process. The bronze bowls are also of good quality and also sings beautifully. He played the sound to make me believe what he was saying.

While he was explaining me, I was looking at the bowl and trying to figure out for the best one. After he explained about the metal, he stated that the bowls were made by hammering several times in their own workshop. The bowls were not machine made. So he focused that the bowls have lasting sound.
I was very much confirmed that I will be buying from him because he was open and helpful to make me understand about their products.
Finally, I picked one and start to examine to confirm whether the bowl is suitable. I followed the suggestions that I wrote in my previous post. Lastly, there it was, I got my first singing bowl. It was a very good one and soothes me. I returned home and played the bowl. It had nice resonance and enjoyed a much. I then thought to practice chakra meditation and balancing. I know that practicing meditation is hard one, but this is what I need to develop.
