Apart of Antique Singing Bowls, Crystal Singing Bowls have been available in the singing bowl market. They are white in color and regarding the shape, it is quite similar to Thadobati Singing Bowls because of the walls. Earlier, I was not aware of the fact because I was limited in smaller area but when I involve the community of sound therapy then I got to know about the crystal singing bowls and its role in the healing and therapy sector. I was amazed that Crystal bowls have been able to get trust and have been there in many homes and monasteries, apart from its short history. It was believed that Crystal bowls were originated before the 20th century but it became famous in late 20th century with the usage in most healing and therapeutic environments.
After thorough research, I learned that the crystal bowls are made up of almost 99% silica sand. These bowls have been increasingly getting the attention and replacing the Antique Singing Bowls. I also learned that the crystal singing bowls were also of different types- frosted, clear crystal, and handler singing bowls. We can also find colored crystal singing bowls.
Let's learn about the types of crystal bowls.
Frosted Crystal Singing Bowls

These singing bowls are of the oldest type of crystal singing bowls. It is said that the origin of these singing bowls was due to the computer industry. They accidentally learned that they possess extraordinary sound qualities while they were assigned to develop silicon ships. The reason behind the word frosted is due to the roughness in the exterior wall of the bowl. Even though it has rough walls, it does provide excellent, rich tone when struck by the striker or rubbed the side of the bowl with the help of mallet.
The size of the frosted crystal singing bowls is varied. That means it comes with the huge size as well as smaller ones. The huge sized singing bowls are played on a table top or floor surface, whichever feels comfortable to use. Smaller bowls, however, can be held in the hands while playing the bowls. Apart from striker or mallet, the singing bowls come with a rubber ring as well. This ring helps the bowl to stand for stability when placed on the floor or on the table.
Clear Crystal Singing Bowls
As the name suggests the Clear Crystal Singing Bowls are transparent Singing Bowls. These singing bowls are manufactured with fusing elements of high-quality clear glass into the quartz crystal. These bowls weigh less than frosted ones and can produce a deeper resonance. These singing bowls are more fragile than frosted crystal singing bowls so the owner of this bowl has to take extra care in order to prevent from breakage. Due to this resonance, practitioners often choose the clear crystal bowls in place of frosted ones.

Crystal Singing Bowls with Handlers
Basically, these singing bowls are Clear Crystal Singing Bowls, added with the handler at the bottom of the bowls. Due to the easiness in grasping the singing bowls with the help of the handlers, this crystal singing bowls is getting its attention and many sound healers, therapists and practitioner are attracted towards this bowls. The handler also helps to move the bowl while playing. Therefore it helps to add the motion to the sound and ultimately to transfer the vibration directly to the body. The main characteristics of this bowl are the sound of the bowl lasts longer when struck because of the lighter density of the bowls. These bowls are also fragile so the owner of this bowl has to take extra care in order to prevent from breakage.
Above mentioned crystal bowls are the basic types of the bowls. In the present context, there are colored crystal bowls as well which adds the decoration in the bowls and make it attracted. I learned that these bowls are very useful to the therapists, practitioners, and healers for their session with their clients but at the same time, these bowls can be used as decorative pieces placed at home or at the office.
